Posting on Africa time

For some reason my blog posts display the incorrect posting time - it's almost 20hours behind my actual posting time. I set the time zone to 'Johannesburg' right in the beginning, and have reset it a few times, but it still displays the wrong time (and day). Way behind. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? The Blogger Help section is painful. In the meantime... I'm going to try Harare time.

CC AFRICA launches new name

One of my longstanding clients CC AFRICA, launches their new name to the public today. This exciting news makes it onto my blog because I had the honour of playing a small (tiny) part in the build-up to this - basically by doing some drawing and posters to encapsulate the feeling of their new name and the direction they are headed. Below is a quote from their email announcement which unveils the new name and logo.
"We have expanded our boundaries and have grown beyond our African borders. And now we also have a beautiful name to match… &BEYOND."
and here's the new logo:
For more info on the name change go here.
new website:
Having done bits and bobs of illustration work for CC AFRICA (now &BEYOND) over the past few years, I have always found them to be an absolute pleasure to deal with. They are a great bunch of people, and they run inceredible luxury lodges in some of the most beautiful places on earth. They also contribute greatly to the conservation and upliftment of their environments. An awesome company that deserves a big CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Below: A poster I created for them - hand drawn with black fineliner, coloured in photoshop:
(I showed only snippets of this before, not wanting to give it all away...).

Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium for the 2010 Soccer World Cup

The view through the window behind the mannequin caught my attention (previous post), so I pulled out my camera. Construction on Durban's 2010 stadium is a beautiful sight.
back to the mannequin
and the stadium through the window of the artSPACE coffee lounge downstairs.

Pic for the Week 1

This is my first post for my very ambitious 'Pic for the Week' project. The idea is that I do and post a quick sketch every week, mainly to keep me drawing from life (as opposed to working from photographs - which has become a bit of a bad habit), but also as a journal of sorts. This week's sketch is of a mannequin that has been lurking around the studio for a few months. She used to be naked, but somewhere along the way she got dressed in a black collared shirt and white tie (must be a Sharks supporter). Actually - the naked one may have been a different mannequin altogether. Anyway... I thought it fitting to do a sketch from inside my studio seeing as I am moving out of it in a week or so. I did this to pass the time this morning, waiting to take down my exhibition downstairs.

or at least - I started it and then got distracted by the structure through the window behind her...

so my camera came out...

will post those pics next. My exhibition is down now, and I am waiting for the post-show-depression that I have been warned about, to set in. So far so good.
